GEOLOGICAL HUB MARBLE LAKE
The project Geological hub “MARBLE LAKE“ its a multidisciplinary concept, which has scientific, educational, creative, social and cultural approach. This project is designed for education, research and workshops in the field of geology, biology, culture and sports in R.N.Macedona.
The main goals of this project are developing educational, social and cultural capacities among young people, networking with world practices and exchange of experiences.
The central place (the adress) of our project Geological hub “MARBLE LAKE” , is the geological site “Marble Lake“ in the village of Belovodica in Prilep, and this hub will travel everywhere in Macedonia where the topic is geology, environment, nature and culture.
The “Marble Lake” is unique geological site in the village Belovodica near Prilep in N.Macedonia, where marble excavations are being carried out and exported all over the world.
The natural phenomenon of the lake that appeared 5 years ago completes the beautiful geological whole in this place.
This marble site has historical and cultural significance as well. In Ancient time, sculptures and monuments were made of this marble in this place. Some of the monuments can be seen in the Museum of Prilep and in the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia.
From Belovodica,s marble, marble surfaces have been made on many world objects, including in the White House in Washington. The beautiful nature and marble giant walls also attracted the attention of filmmakers. Footage of world films, shot on this site (for example, at this location, film footage were made with the world actress Leticia Casta).
The team of our platform NATURE EXPEDITION, which has been working in the field of environment, ecology, botany, culture for 12 years, recognizes the location “Marble lake” and the region as a very positional educational, geological, scientific, ecological and cultural location in N. Macedonia.
Our activities that we do there:

* Scout activities (orientation, camp fire, archery 😉
* Botanical workshop.
One of the advantages of our project is that, it raised the interest about geology and activities related to the environment in this region, where the marble and the nature can be one of the most important scientific, educational, social and existential branches.
The project Geological hub “MARBLE LAKE”, is an excellent opportunity to encourage the educational and cultural capacities of young people in the field of geology, environment and nature in R.N. Macedonia, and thus to create a good link between world scientific and cultural associations.
It will be a Geological educational hub which will establish connection and cooperation with the Local Self Government, with the high schools, sports and cultural associations on this region and more. This cooperation will be an investment in the education of young people in our country.
Summer School
According to this project, we installed a summer classroom with appropriate equipment for conducting educational workshops at the “Marble Lake” location.
We marked the opening of this classroom with a lecture on geology by an expert – geologist – the general manager of UNIMARBLE, engineer Vasko Dameski.
We had discussions about the harmony between man and nature, about the opportunities provided by nature, environmental protection, about culture and sports in nature.
Scout camp
The partner of our project is the scouting group Phoenix from Prilep and together we are working on the development of the geological center “MARMERNO EZERO”.
Together with the scouts, we organized actions to prepare the ground for setting up the scout camp at the “Marble Lake” location. For the scouts, we got equipment for their activities.
Botanical Corner
Nature gives man opportunities, and we want to give back. We monitor the pace of climate change and try to contribute to environmental protection.
We upgraded the botanical corner that we started in 2020 on “Marble Lake” with new plants and trees in the surrounding area.
Outdoor art gallery
This art corner will be the place where art workshops will be organized (mosaic, painting, sculpture, music…).
The mosaic is a symbol of our organization, and in this project a mosaic workshop was organized, which we installed on a large marble block, dedicated to Slovakia.
The members of the Slovak Embassy in Republic of Macedonia took an active part in the mosaic workshops.
