FURNITURE RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION # CARPENTRY SKILLS
The carpentry workshop for furniture restoration and conservation, an activity within the project “Skills – The Key to the Green Economy,” is currently taking place at the vocational school SUGS Georgi Dimitrov.
The workshop was visited by H.E. Gregor Presker and his team from the Embassy of Slovenia in Skopje — his wife Elvira Presker, Economic Counselor Goran Kriz, and Consular Counselor Shermin Elezi Kodzadziku.
The guests had the opportunity to discover details of the processes involved in restoring and conserving antique furniture, especially several pieces over a hundred years old that still told stories of their authenticity, woodcarving craftsmanship, and the imagination of the master artisans who carved and created them.
Children from a rehabilitation center and students from Dimitar Vlahov School also took part in the workshop. Like true masters of carpentry skills, they explored the rings, lines, angles, and physical properties of wood through touch, creating small superheroes from wood.
High school students from Georgi Dimitrov, who were also part of today’s gathering, enthusiastically helped these visually impaired children create wooden crafts. Focus, education, and manual skills gradually evolved into an even greater dimension of connection and discovery.
The project “Skills – The Key to the Green Economy” is focused on the economic empowerment of young people and the development of their entrepreneurial capacities within the framework of the green economy.
The project is supported by the Government of Slovenia and by the Government of North Macedonia through its institutions.
